What’s Next? Participating in an External Program Review

When a district is in a position to do so with regard to resource allocation, it will eventually want to heed the guidelines of best practices and participate in an external review of its gifted program. A formal program evaluation conducted by outside experts in the field is beneficial to districts for several reasons. A formal program evaluation can:

provide an objective view from an expert in gifted education,

identify the strengths of the program,

identify challenges that need to be faced,

suggest new directions to consider,

prioritize the next steps in improving a program, and

assist in public perceptions of credibility.
